Myofascial Release (MFR) is an alternative medicine therapy focusing on restoring shorted soft tissue, and decreasing muscle immobility, tightness and easing or eliminating pain. There are a number of conditions and symptoms that MFR addresses.
Frequently, patients use MFR treatments after losing flexibility or function following an injury, motor vehicle accident (MVA), overuse injury, muscle strains, ligament sprains, chronic back, shoulder, hip, or virtually pain in any area of the body where soft tissue in located. MFR can also treat other conditions such as Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) disorder, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), or headaches, including migraines.
The patient symptoms often comprise:
• Restriction tightness of the tissues that limit motion or pull the body out of its normal alignment, leading to overuse or favouring of one hip or shoulder, for example.
• A feeling of increased pressure on muscles, joints or other soft tissue resulting in pain
• Pain in any part or parts of the body, including headaches or back pain.
